News Flash Marketing Students "Spring 2018 Registration Begins"

It is time again to start thinking about your upcoming Spring 2018 classes. The assigned dates and times for the Spring 2018 registration are November 1, 2017 starting at 8:00am and ending on November 9, 2017 at 4:00pm.  The registration process still continues after the assigned date and times.    

Please see your Academic Advisor about registration for your Spring 2018 classes.  Please e-mail your Academic Advisor regarding their office hours.  If you don't know who your Academic Advisor is, it is posted on your check sheet.

Helpful hints: You can get your holds lifted by your Academic Advisor.  Please don't put registration on hold; schedule your Spring 2018 classes early because classes fill up fast and you can pick challenging classes first.

Free meal and SET credit as well as a meaningful discussion on some current business ethics issues.  Deadline to register is Oct 25th.

Attention Marketing Students-Please attend the Ethics Workshop--November 1st

The School of Business Ethics Committee will be having their Ethics Workshop on November 1, 2017 at 5:00pm at the Sheraton Airport Hotel 1160 Thorn Run Rd, Coraopolis, PA 15108.  There will be dinner and students can earn SET Credits as well.   

We will also recognize our 2017 Integrity First Scholarship Recipients, announce the 2018 Integrity First Scholarship case and hear remarks from RMU alumnus, Rande Somma, who has over 30 years of experience managing a Fortune 100 company

"Marketing Internship Opportunity"



Your Own Retirement is looking for a qualified event planning intern to join our marketing team. We are a financial planning firm that focusses on retirement planning located in Cranberry Township. We hold monthly seminars and events for potential clients in the area. We are seeking an intern who can participate in the various stages of planning and executing our seminar process. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment. Upon completion, the intern will gain the necessary skills to plan an event and measure its success upon other important marketing skills.

Responsibilities
• Participate in the pre-planning, execution, and event follow up phases of our monthly seminars
• Assist marketing director with scheduling seminars and follow up appointments
• Assist, organize, and track event results
• Maintain and organize event/marketing materials and equipment
• Assist with the creation and implementation of social media marketing 
• Assist in preparing advisor presentations
• Enter contact information into contact management systems


 Schedule/Type of training
• Will learn how to plan an event from start to finish. Will learn how to track progress to measure event success. Will be the lead event planner for final seminar in April. 
• Improve social media marketing skills by developing and publishing on multiple social media channels. 
• Improve communication skills by actively engaging in seminars and client follow-up
• Hours: 8 – 12 hours per week depending on if there is a scheduled seminar
 
Requirements
• Currently enrolled college student majoring in marketing, public relations, communication, or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
• Experience working with social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Hootsuite)
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and problem solve
• Ability to communicate effectively to leadership
• Strong written communication skills

Qualifications:
Enrollment in a Bachelor degree program with an emphasis in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Accounting or a business related field.
• Completion of Freshman year at a minimum.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to interact and establish good working relationships with diverse individuals.
• Project coordination with the ability to be proactive and identify creative, effective technical solutions.
• Demonstrated PC skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office programs. 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
