The 2019 Career Expo will be held on Tuesday, October 1, from 12:00 PM to 3 :00 PM in the UPMC Events Center. This great event will provide students with the opportunity to network with local and regional recruiters from over 96 companies and organization. Many of these employers are looking for spring and summer interns and full-time hires for immediate or future openings.

The Massey Center is excited to cover the cost of the conference pass and transportation for a selected number of students and faculty/staff participants. ·  Day to Day Functions of a Successful Operations Intern:     
           Rate and post available freight.
·         Accept freight according to capacity.
·         Build loads in freight system and dispatch accordingly.
·         Make/receive telephone calls to cover and track freight.
·         Contact customers to offer available capacity.
·         Receive and respond to emails in timely manner.
·         Complete and assist in any task assigned by Operations team and/or Client Solutions Managers.
·         Collect proof of delivery and distribute accordingly.

Qualifications:
  • Intern must be matriculated at their College with an interest in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Operations, Business Management or a business-related field with aspirations of working in industry.
  • Rising Junior or Senior is preferred.
  • Intern must be out-going and possess a dynamic personality.
  • Excellent inter-personal relationship skills and ability to work with individuals of all levels.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for marketing, data analysis and achieving measurable results.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle large phone correspondences
  • Detail-oriented, organized and can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Tech savvy including knowledge of all computer applications, such as: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook etc.

WE-EF LIGHTING USA LLC is a leading producer of Performance Exterior Lighting, based in Warrendale, PA.  It services the United States, Canada and Mexico.  It comprises everything under one roof: Sales and Customer Service, Warehousing, Luminaire Assembly, Engineering and Support Staff, all aiming to provide a high level of customer satisfaction.  The company was established in 2000, with current revenues below $10 million. It is part of the global and privately held WE-EF group.



Job Requirements

  • Enrolled college or university student who is looking for internship, temporary or part-time job.
  • Dynamic individual with a desire to create and explore.
  • Data selection, extraction and cleansing for interpretation and improvement measures
  • Strong Computer Skills and applications (e.g. spreadsheets, databases and word processing, scanners, printers, etc.)
  • Prior exposure to Manufacturing or Distribution a plus
  • Work 15+ hours (weekly) with flexible hours between 8 – 5 M-F
  • Please note that these opportunities are temporary or part-time only, available for the next 3-4 months, for exceptional work possibility for extension.

The Student will be exposed to the overall operations of WE-EF LIGHTING USA, a leading producer of Architectural Performance Lighting. He or she will support purchasing and operations in their daily business and will gain insights of all business functions, from Sales & Marketing to Lighting Design, Engineering, Inventory Management, Manufacturing, to Purchasing.


In addition, the successful candidate will work with our team on company improvement programs such as Lean Manufacturing, The Toyota Way, and the Supply Chain Innovation Program SCIP™ to achieve sustainable improvements in quality, lead-time, minimizing waste, reduction in costs and reliability of supply.  At the end of such around three months project, the student will present their project/s to the company team and Sr. management.
