We sat down with 2018
graduate Marissa Spade to talk with her about her education at Robert Morris
University in the Marketing Program. Marissa Spade previously attended the
Community College of Beaver County before transferring to Robert Morris
University in 2016. She graduated from the marketing program Cum Laude (3.5
GPA). She currently works for Falk Library at the University of
Pittsburgh focusing on marketing classes and resources to health science
students.
Marissa told us that without the help and support of professors such as Dr.
Marco,
Dr. Apostolopoulou, and Dr. Jones she
would not be where she is today. Professors like these helped encourage
her to do her best and to always strive for something better. She might only be
two years out of college, but she has already started thinking about a masters
and potentially a PhD program in the future, thanks to professors like these.
Last
but not least, we asked Marissa to share with us the advice she felt would be
most helpful to current and future students pursuing a degree in marketing. She
felt strongly about encouraging students to pursue certifications that are
readily available to them, and usually free of cost while attending school or
when enrolled in specific courses such as Social Media Marketing.
Certifications she felt increased her understanding of the market and suggests
current students to take advantage of were the Hootsuite Platform Certification
as well as the HubSpot Certification. Marissa felt strongly that students
should take advantage of the resources available to them while in college in
order to be prepared to join the workforce.
